Increase HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) Cholesterol: Niacin can increase HDL cholesterol, often called “good” cholesterol. It does so by promoting the production of Apolipoprotein A-I (Apo A-I), a key component of HDL particles. Higher levels of HDL cholesterol can help transport cholesterol away from the arteries and back to the liver for removal from the body, reducing the risk of plaque buildup in blood vessels.
Lowers Triglycerides: Niacin can also lower triglyceride levels in the blood, especially in individuals with high triglycerides. Elevated triglyceride levels are associated with an increased risk of heart disease.
